On July 18, in London’s Hyde Park, the UK’s biggest bespoke solar powered boat will be launched on the Serpentine Lake. The Serpentine SolarShuttle will be capable of carrying 40 passengers across the lake by utilising an electric engine powered entirely by the sun. Set to become the showcase for the future of solar transport in the UK, the SolarShuttle is totally silent, carbon neutral and pollution-free.

The SolarShuttle design was conceived by Christoph Behling, founder of SolarLab Research & Design and a designer for brands including TAG Heuer and Nokia, who has spent the last 10 years transforming his visionary solar concepts into reality. He has exhibited his designs in design museums in London and New York and was responsible for the design of the world’s largest solar boat, the Hamburg SolarShuttle, which is now used to ferry passengers across the city’s harbour.
