Biography: |
Maxine began her career in design media publishing; before embarking on a decade of new business development roles at Board level within strategic design consultancies.
Maxine launched British Design Initiative Ltd in 1993 starting with just 24 design consultancies and reaching a registration point of 6000 design firms by 2002, representing 85% of the entire commercial design industry. In mid 2005 it was re-launched as British Design Innovation to become owned and driven by its membership, as a commercially led but not for profit trade body. Today its membership comprises the top level 15% of strategic design firms that add most value to industry. Collectively they represent a turnover of over £200 million; and BDI itself facilitates an estimated £100 million income to the design industry. It maintains its industry inclusive policy representing over £4.5bn of design sector turnover and an avergae £1 billion of export income. It is not a government funded organisation.
