Smallfry design new product to help provide long term protection from limescale
27 November 2012

Sentinel has launched their new ScalePro product a non-polluting electrolytic physical water conditioning device that helps protect pipe systems and appliances from limescale encrustation. Designed by BDI member Smallfry to be effective for at least 10 years, it is ideal for use in homes or small domestic properties.
Water supplied to approximately 65% of the UK population is hard water, containing natural calcium and magnesium mineral salts. When this water is heated the dissolved salts can separate out, clinging to nearby surfaces and forming a hard layer of scale. In boilers, washing machines, kettles and other appliances it builds upon the heating elements or heat exchangers, reducing efficiency, increasing energy usage and shortening the useful life of the equipment.
Normally with these types of devices there is no way of assessing their durability or how well they are performing. What makes Smallfry’s concept unique is an integrated performance indicator with LEDs that will flash green every 32 seconds if the device is working correctly and red if the electrode is fouled or exhausted thus giving the consumer the confidence that the product is performing and having a beneficial effect.
