Dalziel + Pow’s student programme
12 October 2012

BDI members Dalziel + Pow continue to invest in design talent by taking on a number of placement students every year. They have run a successful programme with Nottingham Trent’s Interior Architecture degree course for around ten years.
The placement programme is an important part of the company’s annual recruitment plan.. Students are trained in all aspects of the design process ‒ for example, image research for brand positioning and the market; photographic surveys and site visits; material research; technical research; creative design opportunities; visualising concepts and producing technical drawings. They also receive software training at the start of the placement, which allows them to produce work of a high standard quickly and efficiently.
The majority of students stay for around 12 months and then return as graduates the following year. They leave university with relevant live project work in their portfolio and this positive cycle of developing and nurturing talent provides a fantastic opportunity for the individuals and a constant stream of expertise for the studio.
Group Marketing Director David Wright comments: “The more connected we are to design education, the better quality graduates we can attract.”
